The NASA Space Shuttle, Orbiter and Spacelab elements of the Space Transportation System (STS) provide for new opportunities and capabilities for accommodating a wide variety of payloads to explore space, the Earth and its environment. The data and communications systems involved in the Spacelab payload data flow are described essentially from the experiment sensors on-orbit, to the investigators' postflight data analysis at their home facility.
