The Restructured Naval Tactical Data Systems (RNTDS) is a methodology of constructing programs to be used in the Combat Information Center (CIC) aboard ships. The construction method is complicated by the large number of parts of the program, and the technique of putting them together for shipboard use. A critical construction step is the segmentation process used to fit the program and its data into the memory segments of the computer. This step, and the application of Expert System Technology to aid in the analysis and evolution of it, is the subject of this paper.
