Ford Motor Company have implemented into some of their Research Vehicles for evaluation a simple, low cost technique requiring minimum equipment that can inform service personnel of any transducer problems. If the vehicle is used with a faulty device alternative values are substituted. This paper shows the capability of the EEC-IV nicroprocessor with its associated development aids and VECTOR mainframe facilities. It provides an extremly powerful tool to develop advanced vehicle control systems.
