Advancement in theory and practice of a doubly curved reflector design is achieved. In the theoretical part ,a design condition between the aperture dimensions and secondary pattern trial function is derived in an attempt to synthesize the secondary pattern with minimum reflector dimensions. Next, an extended pattern computation equation is dervied in order to evaluate the high beam pattern in a dual beam antenna system, in which a high beam horn is displaced from the focus of the reflector. A feeding system for the dual beam antenna is also discussed with emphasis on horns and circular polarizers. In the practical part, the above theories are applied to an ARSR (Air Route Surveillance Radar) dual beam antenna with a modified cosec-squared and sharp cutoff elevation pattern, which results in a satisfactory completion of the reflector antenna design.
