An experimental investigation is conducted to describe the effects of the location of the stern planes on the wake flow entering the submarine propeller. By mounting the stern planes in three longitudinal positions on the stern, the formed wake flow at the propeller position is measured by using a five-hole pressure probe. The optimised position of the stern planes is selected to improve the wake flow entering the propeller in terms of width, size, and non-uniformity reduction. Moving the control surfaces on the stern from X / L = 0.89 to X / L = 0.95, decreases the average velocity value of the wake formed at the end of the submarine model at the radius while at the radius , , it increases. Moving the control surfaces from X/L = 0.89 to the X/L = 0.95 under maneuvering conditions leads to an increase in the average velocity at radius .
