This paper deals with basic questions concerning the flexible, problem-oriented modelling of vehicle systems and their efficient use in design, testing and analysis.

It presents a methodical simulation concept for interactive, batch, and real-time operation derived from this objective, in which the function and interaction of the basic software in question in the open-system network is explained using the example of the NUBEMM specific multi-body system as part of a complete-vehicle modular system for the determination of chassis design ratings.
