Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) have more and more applications in Civil Engineering. Recent studies show the facilities and advantages of using this technology in infrastructure inspection. However, there are uncertainties about its actual scope. The objective of this study is to identify potholes in flexible pavement with UAV. The methodology consisted of selecting a damaged flexible pavement, where defects were measured both manually and digitally, the last through the UAV processed images. Data were collected at three flight altitudes (20 m, 30 m, and 40 m) and six hours (8:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., noon, 2:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m., and 6:00 p.m.). Subsequently, the error between the field and digital measurements was calculated. The results show that the lower the flight altitude, the fewer errors occur. The morning hours are presented with fewer errors than the afternoon hours. 6:00 p.m. was the time with the highest error and standard deviation. The maximum error was 6,85%. Although the use of UAV allows easy and fast detection of potholes, other aspects such as the environment and obstacles in the inspected place must still be considered since they can generate problems in the identification and measurement of deterioration.
