Traffic congestion is a significant problem in urban areas that can result in considerable economic and environmental costs. Traffic lights are an essential tool for managing traffic flow and reducing congestion. To tackle such problems, this research proposes a simulation system for traffic lights based on assembly language programming (ALP) that optimizes traffic flow by adjusting traffic light timings according to the system’s needs. The system has been modified to adjust and modify timing for changing traffic patterns, and it also ensures that traffic lights respond quickly and efficiently to reduce congestion and improve travel time. The system’s performance was evaluated through simulation and the results demonstrated a substantial reduction in waiting times for commuters, indicating its potential for real-world implementation. The proposed system can be an effective tool for traffic engineers and city planners in developing efficient and cost-effective traffic light control systems.
