Abstract Temperature inside the vehicle cabin is very important to provide comfortable conditions to the car passengers. The aim of this paper is to define an index that will be used in the evaluation of the thermal comfort for the whole car. Given that, to evaluate the thermal comfort we will need to realize a numerical simulation. In this paper, we will define two general comfort indexes: G eneral T hermal C omfort I ndex (GTCI) and G eneral A bsolute T hermal C omfort I ndex (GATCI). Those indexes are evaluated as an area of a surface, and are represented as graphs. The graphs are constructed taking into account the value of the thermal comfort indexes for the car occupants, and the GATCI is defined by the area of the surface and by the evaluated values. A better definition of the thermal comfort index is given by the GTCI, defined in the same way as the GATCI, but with the specification that if the individual index (PMV, PPD or DTS).
