Angle-of-Attack (AOA) and Angle-of-Sideslip (AOS) play vital roles in flight control and flight management. To ensure the flight safety of low-cost light and small unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) with simple sensor configuration, a novel estimation method for AOA and AOS using the inertial navigation system (INS) and pitot is proposed in this paper. The inertial AOA and the inertial AOS are estimated using attitude angles, flight path angle and azimuth angle provided by INS, and the wind field is estimated using true airspeed, ground speed, and drift angle based on the wind triangle to compensate the inertial AOA and the inertial AOS. A simulation is introduced to illustrate the validity of the proposed method.
