In recent years, modular multilevel converter topology used in railway static power conditioner of modular multilevel converter (mmc-rpc) has become a research hotspot. However, the existing mmc-rpc control strategy does not consider the influence of the actual load power and current fluctuation characteristics of electric locomotive on the capacitor voltage of each MMC sub module, which makes the capacitor voltage fluctuate greatly. Therefore, according to the power and load operation characteristics of electric locomotive, this paper adopts hybrid PWM modulation strategy to simulate the capacitor voltage sharing fluctuation range of each sub module of mmc-rpc. Finally, the simulation and experimental results verify that the capacitor voltage sharing fluctuation amplitude of each mmc-rpc sub module can be effectively controlled.
