Abstract In this chapter, we consider the PEV charging problem in a community, where the power consumption consists of the load of a PEV charging station and the other inelastic base load, as shown in Fig. 2.1. By controlling the charging rates of PEVs, we aim to minimize total cost on electricity bill paid by the charging station. PEVs arrive at the charging station at random instants with random charging demands that must be fulfilled before their departure time.
