Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are progressively reshaping the landscape of air power, introducing innovative methods for conducting surveillance and tracking operations, particularly in wildfire situations. This helps mitigate the risk of personal injuries. These aerial vehicles have become standard equipment, generating a global network of aircraft and specialized units for field operation. This chapter details the contributions carried out in the Firepoctep Interreg Spain Portugal cross-border cooperation project regarding hardware and software for the design and construction of a new drone that is suitable for flight in hostile environments, such as forest fires and the software developed to improve piloting conditions in low visibility circumstances (including night flights).
