Abstract The results of numerical modeling of dust plasma dynamics in the geomagnetic tail are presented for the southward and northward orientations of the interplanetary magnetic field in the model with reconnection of magnetic field lines of geomagnetic and interplanetary magnetic fields. It is shown that in reconnection regions the compression shock waves arise, at the fronts of which the dust plasma fluxes with higher-than-background density are generated.
