A family of rigid, thermoplastic polyurethanes (R-TPU) has recently been introduced whose properties may well fit the needs of fuel handling applications. These resins have been successfully tested in a number of fuel handling applications which require clarity, especially for fuel filter bowls. They may also offer advantages in other fuel handling applications such as fuel line fittings, fuel pumps, and in-tank components. In this paper, the new resin family will be introduced, the functional values of this resin family will be discussed relative to the functional needs of fuel handling applications, and the new resins will be compared to materials being used or considered for these applications.
