This paper presents the reliability programs undertaken by Martin-Denver Div. while developing the various Titan missile systems. The history and development of these reliability programs and their effect on management decisions and upon actual system hardware are discussed.A summary of tasks to be accomplished for the engineering portion of the Reliability Program for Titan I and Titan II are analyzed. By developing a better insight into “Practice Reliability” and a careful analysis of design “Inherent Reliability” one can come up with a fairly accurate forecast of “Achieved Reliability” in product development.
