The desire to improve planning and control in new programs is inherent in management, and management is receptive to any new techniques for improvement.This paper discusses the inception of an improved technique - the Critical Path Method - at Ford Motor Co. The author points out that the new method is not a panacea for all production problems facing management, but it does reduce cost and time consumption to a sizeable extent.
