While New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) provides funding for Community Transportation Planning Assistance studies, it does not guarantee funds for implementation. The host community owns the study and its conclusions. Any recommendations involving state highways are vetted with NJDOT Traffic Engineering staff prior to completion of the report, but NJDOT does not commit to constructing recommended improvements. Instead, evaluating various potential finding sources, and developing a phased implementations strategy is critical to increasing the likelihood that recommendations are realized.
