Musielak and Saracoglu report on the research and development of scramjet-powered propulsion. The High Speed Strike Weapon (HSSW) program was launched by the Air Force Research Laboratory to advance supersonic-combustion scramjet propulsion even further. The program will demonstrate hypersonic missile technologies for striking heavily defended targets from standoff ranges.
