With the recent completion of the Global Positioning System (GPS) constellation and lower cost spaceborne receivers GPS usage is expanding rapidly in the area of space flight projects. Several of these are discussed, such as precise orbit determination, Earth gravity model improvement, and other global geodesy enhancements; high resolution 2D/3D ionospheric imaging; and atmospheric limb sounding.
