An efficient numerical procedure based on a velocity integral representation and Fourier series expansion is developed to compute the unsteady viscous flows around multielement airfoils. Flow developments initiated from an impulsively started motion of a Boeing VR7 airfoil with or without a leading-edge slat are studied in both laminar and turbulent flow conditions. The effect of the presence of the slat to the surface pressure distribution of the airfoil is assessed.
