Throughout Continental Europe the perennial problem of urban public transport passenger information is being addressed through the consideration of a wide range of high technology solutions. Many of these systems have now gone beyond the stage of pure experimentation. Whilst no specific economic evaluations of the cost-effectiveness of new forms of passenger information provision appear to have been undertaken, it is extremely reassuring that all those contacted in the course of the research reported that there was, in every instance, an overwhelmingly favorable public response to the new pioneering, information systems.
