Results are presented from a theoretical investigation of the comparative performance of several helicopter rotor jet power alternate systems in hovering and forward flight. The common component in all systems is the gas generator which supplies the working fluid to drive and control the helicopter as follows: a turbine for shaft power; a tip jet; a jet flap; and a combination of jet flat and tip jet. Several different propulsion cycles are considered, the cold cycle and the regenerative cycle in less detail and the hot cycle in more detail. The results are graphically presented in a form suitable for performance comparison purposes and illustrative examples are given. (Author)
