The report examines the commuter rail operations of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA). It compares SEPTA's safety record with other commuter rail systems'; identifies actions SEPTA has taken to ensure the safe operation of its commuter rail service; reviews SEPTA's efforts to integrate the rail operations into its overall transit operations, including the provision of funds; and determines the Department of Transportation's (DOT) Urban Mass Transportation Administration (UMTA) funding provided to SEPTA for training and research and development.
