The project expanded childhood injury surveillance efforts and childhood injury prevention activities within local community health services. Project activities included compiling data on childhood-specific injury morbidity and mortality, creating a coalition of agencies with an interest in childhood injuries, providing assistance in developing local prevention programs, developing a comprehensive approach to reduce scald injuries in children ages birth to five years, and making long-range plans to address other types of injuries and other age groups.
