The report describes the proposal for an administrative action to promulgate an environmentally protective regulation for civil aircraft sonic boom. The regulation, which is given, precludes, by limiting the speed of the civil aircraft, the generation of a sonic boom which will touch the surface in the United States except in specially designated flight test areas. Its impact is discussed.
