The analytical research dealt with human factors considerations in the design of truck lighting and signaling, and rearview mirrors. The analyses began with describing the relevant differences between cars and trucks in terms of the vehicles and the operating environments. Next, the potential functional implications of these differences were discussed. Following were brief descriptions of potential countermeasures to the problems. Finally, research topics that address the problems and the potential countermeasures were outlined.
