Field data on ambient air pollution levels are required to assess transportation systems impact on the regional air quality. A description of the design and development of an air monitoring trailer for measuring ambient levels of air pollution is presented. The analyzers used, their operation, and calibration procedures are discussed. The trailer units are equipped with carbon monoxide, oxides of nitrogen, ozone, and hydrocarbon analyzers. Data loggers are used to facilitate reduction of air pollutant data. Calibration equipment and gases for the analyzers were incorporated in the trailer design and installation.
