Motion sickness is a disease that causes autonomic nervous symptoms such as vomiting or nausea by vestibular stimulation in weightless condition, linear acceleration, or by visual sense. Interest is focused on the disease from the point of space sickness. The purpose of this study was to discuss the effectiveness of electrogastrography as an objective index of motion sickness under microgravity achieved by parabolic flight. The electrogastrogram obtained during parabolic flight was examined to determine if it is capable of being used as an objective index of motion sickness, whether it can predict vomiting, and whether it can reflect the change of gravity. As a result, there was a correlation between amplitude of electrogastrogram and motion sickness. In addition, electrogastrogram showed particular patterns before and during vomiting, although physiological events which are supposed to be reflected by this pattern are unknown yet. Electrogastrogram also showed changes of each pattern when gravity was changed.
