This issue contains fifteen papers concerned with pavement management. The papers are grouped into three parts. The first part includes four papers on pavement monitoring and evaluation. Specific topics addressed in this part include pavement raveling detection and measurement; interpreting traffic speed deflectometer results; comparative testing of lasers for ride quality measurement on hot-mix asphalt pavements; and the measurement of pavement roughness using an Android-based smartphone application. The second part concerns the strength and deformation characteristics of pavement sections. The five papers in this part discuss performance predictions of rutting for the National Center for Asphalt Technology test track; subgrade and foundation dynamic performance evaluation; the influence of aggregate base layer variability on pavement performance; a backcalculation procedure for bonded concrete overlays of asphalt pavement; and backcalculation of asphalt concrete modulus master curve from field-measured falling weight deflectometer data. The third part concerns surface properties-vehicle interaction. The six papers in this part address scaling relationships of dissipation-induced pavement-vehicle interactions; prediction of skid resistance of flexible pavements; the relationship between pavement surface friction and mixture design properties; surface drainage evaluation for rigid pavements; cornering maneuvers of a pneumatic tire on asphalt pavement surfaces; and an evaluation of widely used hydroplaning risk prediction methods.
