The efficient and safe movement of freight over the highways is a vital component of the economy and national security. The research project designed, implemented or evaluated a number of promising technologies that can help in the important endeavor. The primary objective addressed in the project was the design and implementation of a remotely operated compliance station for commercial vehicles which can automate a multitude of enforcement assistance activities in a cost-effective and efficient manner thereby saving resources and reducing adverse environmental impacts.
