A new illumination method for helicopter decks used on Royal Dutch Navy vessels using flood light fittings is presented. In order to have an optimal homogeneous illumination on deck and to meet the requirement that no light reach the sea surface, the lighting fittings have to be delicately directed and screened off. A simple and inexpensive method to achieve this is described.
