A one-piece helicopter external cargo sling apex fitting was developed from Kevlar 29 to meet Army requirements for a lightweight, nonmetallic fitting that will facilitate cargo hook movement of sling-assisted loads. This report outlines the processes of material selection, design concepts, manufacturing methods, and testing undertaken to develop a versatile unit that meets or exceeds all previous criteria.
