The document is the principal volume in a series of five on court procedures for handling problem drinkers convicted of driving while intoxicated. It comprises a series of recommendations for the use of all court personnel and treatment agencies interested in devising improved methods of handling drinking drivers. It deals with all phases of the interaction between drinking drivers, courts, and treatment agencies. Its objective is to establish basic principles and outline alternative choices by means of which courts may design effective procedures suited to their own needs and resources. (Author)
