The objectives in this study were (1) to assess the scope of recreational boating in Oregon, (2) to estimate the contribution of boater expenditures to the state's economy, and (3) to estimate future trends in boating activites and associated economic impacts. Since policymakers must often weigh the economic implications of their decisions, the authors intended for the study results primarily to assist Oregon State Marine Board (OSMB) and others in making informed public policy and business decisions.
