A Wessex helicopter was used to develop and evaluate a suite of advanced, integrated avionics. An important area of study was concerned with the display of engine and transmission data, and with a system monitor which gives audio and visual warning of any problems. The system demonstrated that the suppression of engine and transmission data at all times except when the pilot asks for it to be displayed or the system detects a problem is an acceptable technique.
