The survey is the first in a series and deals with Soviet research and development efforts in the field of power-conditioning devices for aerospace vehicles. The survey is divided into two parts: Part I presents a survey and discussion of developments in power conditioning technology. There are three sections: (1) Rotary electromechanical converters; (2) Static converters; (3) Conclusions. Part II contains abstracts and all available translations. The abstracts are divided between two sections: (4) (numbering is continued from Part I) Rotary converters (18 entries); (5) Static converters (31 entries). Section 6 (Translations) has 13 entries. Data on aircraft power-conditioning equipment have been included in the report since most practical experience in dynamic and static conversion equipment for aerospace applications is patterned after that used in aircraft. The report also contains information on other types of power conditioning equipment which by their size, weight, electrical characteristics, reliability, and environmental parameters would satisfy the requirements for aerospace applications.
