The aircraft was observed after takeoff climbing slowly on runway heading in a nose-high attitude. At an altitude of between 200 and 300 feet the aircraft settled slightly, entered a left rotational spin, and crashed in an open field approximately 4,000 feet from the departure end of Runway 33. Witnesses reported seeing black smoke emanating from the underside of the aircraft just prior to impact. All nine persons on board, the pilot and eight passengers, received fatal injuries. The aircraft was destroyed by impact and subsequent fire. (Author)
