The Transportation Feasibility Study addresses growing concerns with traffic and parking congestion at popular recreation sites within Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area (RRCNCA), a Bureau of Land Management (BLM) natural area in Clark County, Nevada. The Volpe National Transportation Systems Center/U.S. Department of Transportation (Volpe Center) examined four transportation alternatives that combine parking, transit, and management strategies to address transportation challenges at RRCNCA. The study explores alternatives that encompass a broad range of transportation solutions including parking lot reconfigurations and expansions, voluntary transit services, and intelligent transportation systems as well as other management options for reducing congestion at parking lots. The study has several specific goals to inform alternatives evaluation: 1. Enhance visitor mobility by reducing congestion at parking lots along Scenic Drive. 2. Improve the visitor safety and especially consider the safety of non-motorized visitors. 3. Improve visitor experience. 4. Preserve the sites unique natural and aesthetic resources. 5. Ensure that all transportation and management solutions are financially and operationally feasible.
