Use of utility vehicles designed for on/off-road use, such as the Blazer, Bronco, JEEP, Jimmy, Land Cruiser, and Scout has increased rapidly over the past few years. The purpose of the study has been to analyze the available on-road collision experience involving this type of vehicle to determine the nature, extent, and seriousness of any problems unique to this category of vehicle, and to provide a basis for further investigation and/or safety recommendation. The study involved large-scale accident data analysis, evaluation of in-depth reports on individual crashes, and the measurement of physical parameters on some utility vehicles.
