Report developed under SBIR contract for topic A13-061. The purpose of this report is to show the feasibility of developing an efficient, leak proof plenum seal for the M1 Abrams. It also shows the need for a newly designed seal based on in-depth research of the performance issues and cost burden of the current production seal. A modeling and simulation approach has been taken to develop a new plenum seal concept and compare its expected performance with that of the current production seal.
