Its mission is to enhance the performance of and prevent injury to the men and women of the United States Navy and Marine Corps by conducting biomedical research of the effects of mechanical forces encountered by crew members on Navy/Marine Corps aircraft and ships, establishing human tolerance limits to these forces, and developing approached to minimize their adverse effects.
