Water performance tests of the 'wheel pump' installed on a 1/4-ton swimmer/floater are described. The performance of a vehicle equipped with wheel pumps is compared to one equipped with 7.00 x 16 military tires with non-directional treads in 'new' condition. The maximum speed of the wheel pump vehicle was 3.2 mph with a calculated thrust of 135 lbs and that of the standard wheel vehicle was 2.5 mph with a calculated thrust of 70 lbs. (Author)
