The United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) is a unified command with worldwide responsibilities to train, equip and maintain Special Operations Forces (SOF) in a ready state in support of the contingency plans developed by the five regionally oriented unified commands: United States European Command; United States Central Command; United States Pacific Command; United States Atlantic Command; and United States Southern Command; USSOCOM is the only operational command directly responsible for determining its own force structure requirement, determining the related material requirements, procuring the SOF unique equipment, training, and deploying its own units.
