The Texas Department of Transportation sponsored this report. The principal objectives of this effort are to collect, analyze, and interpret data to assess the performance and effectiveness of the committed freeway HOV lanes now being implemented in Texas. This report presents data relating to the six operating HOV lanes now being implemented in Texas. This report presents data relating to the six operating HOV lanes in Texas and focuses on data collected during calendar year 1996. The results of this research have helped the implementing agencies learn from the early experience with HOV lanes in order to allow future projects to be developed more effectively.
