Hopper dredging by the US Army Corps of Emgineers has been identified as a notable source of mortality to sea turtles in inshore waters. Maintenance dredging of intracoastal waterways, disposal of dredged materials, and marine construction all pose risks to sea turtles. Juvenile turtles equipped with radio and sonic transmitters were released at Sabine Pass, Texas and tracked intermittently during May through mid September 1993.
