The intent of this grant was to use it to develop a transistor type of electric vehicle motor control. An implied goal was to keep the cost of a vehicle system below $1000.00; there were silicon controlled rectifier (SCR) systems existing that were available for $1500.00. A test circuit was developed and tested. Transistor failures are discussed. The appearance of a new SCR control kit on the market for $330 brought on the decision to halt the effort.
