The report contains the results of a study to determine the feasibility of using a hybrid heat engine/electric propulsion system to reduce air pollution from exhaust of street operated vehicles. In this concept, the source of power is a combination of a heat engine and batteries. Several types of heat engines and batteries and other major components were examined for several classes of vehicles. Results include estimated exhaust emissions, major component requirements and estimated vehicle costs. (Author)
