Results of all investigations are summarized. This includes (1) studies of high velocity airdrops of M37 3/4-ton truck, M101 3/4-ton trailer, and M2A1 105MM Howitzer, (2) development of a 'drive-off cushioning system for the 3/4-ton truck, (3) comparative study of paper honeycomb testing techniques in use at the U. S. Army natick laboratories and at the University of Texas, (4) development of a simple, quick honeycomb tester, and (5) analytical studies of the response of vehicles to ground impact. In addition, rules of thumb for the guidance of designers of vehicles which may be airdropped are listed, and suggestions for improvements in the designs of specific vehicles are given. (Author)
