The problem of orbit determination accuracy is discussed for geostationary satellites, based on the weighted least squares method. Topics discussed include the estimation of orbital elements and other unknown parameters, bias and covariance matrix of the estimator, an orbit model for error analysis, and a weighing scheme of achieved orbit determination accuracy for orbital maneuver design. An application to the transfer and primary orbit of the Symphonie satellites is described.
